You never got to celebrate your son's first birthday.
You never got to marry the woman of your dreams.
You never got to that turning point, getting off the drugs.
You never got the chance to be the big 40.
You never got to hug a grandchild of yours.
You never got to go to college.
You never got to finish the battle against drugs.
You have left us at only 25.
You have left us with many happy memories.
You have also left us picking up the pieces, trying to cope.
You have left your beautiful son, Erik, who will never get to know you.
You have given us many laughs, smiles and tears.
You have tried to be a great father.
You have left us wondering what you would have become- a great astronaut, scientist, engineer- had the drugs not taken over.
You have left us wondering what you were thinking in those last moments.
We may never know exactly why you left us,
but we do know that we miss you and love you.
We do know that you will never be forgotten.
We do know that you made us laugh many times.
We do know that you cared for everybody you knew.
We do know that you were a great person.
We do know that you are flying with the angels in heaven somewhere.
